Haven Centre Open Days for Families, Young People and Professionals

We’re getting ready to welcome people through the doors at The Haven Centre.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting a series of open days for families, young people and professionals, creating the opportunity for people to come in, explore the space and learn more about how it could support children, young people and families from across the Highlands.

For us, this is about more than simply opening up the doors to this incredible space. It’s about opening up a conversation.

Because while The Haven Centre already plays an important role for families through respite stays and our community cafe, we’ve always believed it could offer even more.

Built with more in mind from the very beginning

From the start, The Haven Centre was created with Highland families in mind.

It was designed to support children and young people with additional support needs, alongside the families, carers and organisations around them, not only through the Haven Suites, but through a wider sense of connection, opportunity and support too.

And that bigger picture has always been part of the plan.

Alongside respite stays, we’ve long hoped that the centre could become a space for play, holiday visits, shared experiences and opportunities for families to spend time somewhere that feels safe, welcoming and built with their needs in mind.

These open days are an important part of that journey.

A chance to listen as much as share

As The Haven Centre continues to grow, we want to make sure it grows in the right way.

That means not making assumptions about what families, young people and professionals need, but asking, listening and learning from the people who understand those needs first-hand.

The open days are an opportunity for people to come in, see the space for themselves and get a better sense of what’s already in place.

But just as importantly, they’re a chance for us to hear what people would like this space to become.

Whether that’s more opportunities for play, accessible activities, transition support, family visits or something else entirely, those conversations matter.

Why this matters for families across the Highlands

For many families living with additional support needs, finding the right spaces and support can be difficult, particularly in areas where options are limited or involve long travel.

We know that one size rarely fits all, and that what makes a meaningful difference to one family may look completely different to another.

That’s why we want The Haven Centre to be shaped not just by plans and possibilities, but by real experiences and honest feedback.

If this space is going to serve Highland families well, then it should be built around what families and young people actually need from it.
