At The Haven Centre, we are excited to share that Elsie has been selected as one of the featured women in a new portrait exhibition that celebrates the incredible impact women have in their communities. Captured by renowned photographer Professor Jenny Matthews, this exhibition highlights the strength, resilience, and commitment of women who have made a positive difference in Inverness and beyond.
Elsie has been an inspiring figure in our local community, contributing to various initiatives and offering support to those in need. Her involvement in this exhibition is a well-deserved recognition of her ongoing dedication to making a difference.
Elsie expressed how honored and proud she felt to be part of the exhibition:
“I feel really humbled to have been asked to be part of this exhibition. It’s a beautiful reminder of how important community is, and I hope my story inspires others to get involved and make a positive change too.”
The exhibition, which was created in collaboration with UHI Inverness, showcases not only the portraits of these women but also their unique stories. Jenny Matthews, a celebrated British documentary photographer, ran a workshop with UHI Inverness Senior Phase students, encouraging them to experiment with new ways of photographing and documenting individuals. The portraits on display are the result of these creative sessions, offering a fresh perspective on the women featured.
Each image tells a story of resilience, dedication, and community spirit. Elsie’s portrait is part of this powerful collection, and we are delighted to see her included among these remarkable women.
The exhibition is now open and available for all to explore at the Inverness UHI. Pop in and be inspired by these women’s stories, including Elsie’s, and discover how the strength of community and the actions of everyday heroes can make a difference.
